The King's Speech

Have you gotten a chance to see The King's Speech, yet?

I've been putting it off, but in a free moment this afternoon, I cozied up in the theater and saw it. What a lovely performance! I think it now ranks right up there with my other guilty pleasures, The Twilight movies (I know, officially a sucker). While I don't consider myself a movie critic by any means, essentially the premise is a speech therapist helps King George VI (Colin Firth) overcome a stutter, resulting in a confident wartime King. I applaud Colin Firth's spot-on adaptation of the struggle of a stutterer. A very beautiful movie!

Go see it!!

New Wreaf

My front door needs a sprucing up. Spring is tip-toe-ing close and I am on the hunt for a new door wreaf (as my speech kiddos would say).
Why are wreaths so hard to pick out? Is it because there are so many hideous, butt-ugly choices to choose from? Like, take a look at this bad boy---------->

<-------------Or what about this one? It's like a floral dept. threw up. I personally feel if God didn't make that flower THAT color- you might wanna reconsider your choice.

Here are a few, however, that I AM daydreaming about (feel free to lazily close your eyes and listen to Styx music, too):

                                                Classic Boxwood

Maybe in another color??

                                                  Fun Leather Wreath

Feeling spicy? Here's a chili pepper wreath

Here's a fun little project, if you have the time. It's a book page wreath- great for using up old books. You can find the link for this dude----->right ova' here.

Snip Snip

Spring is coming, and I've been needing a new change-a-roo.

So I took the plunge- snip, snip- and have been channeling my inner Daphne, from Scooby Doo.

Not sure how I feel about it. Since I normally look not a day older than 10th grade younger,   perhaps this pushes me back to middle schools days?

I dunno, we'll see. At least it's fun for now.

Warning: Inner Geek About to Come Out!!

Free Speech Therapy Public Service Announcement

Whoa! A sweet friend of mine told me about a news reporter video, recently. Always one for a chuckle, I had a peek. Totally not what I was expecting:

Look at the terror on her face- bless her! This lady needs to get this checked out!! Good thoughts and prayers her way!

Yes, that is all..you're welcome.

My Funny Valentine..

My Funny Valentine..
My Funny Valentine.. by 662 Eaton featuring leopard print earrings

Just a few "happys" that I'm dreamin' of for Valentines day..

On a Date...

Hooray! Another snow day! And what's another reason I get excited for snow days?
                                              Dates.

No, not a date with my husband, but with this guy:

Yup, that guy. THAT guy is DAD and we have a blast.

We usually go on dates on snow days, or days that I am off work. I pick him up and we get to hang out together over an early breakfast, or a dive that sells the best greasy hamburgers. Just the two of us. He's a great listener. He'll try to sing, outloud, in his lovely tenor voice and try to embarrass you.  AND he gets mad when you try to pay, citing that "I need to put away my money, 'cause that's what dads are for". Great, huh?

Thanks, dad, for a great snow day....

Dough Bowls..

Have you seen some of these bad boys before?
                        No?
They're my latest crush. In fact, I have had my eye on them for awhile now. They're dough bowls. Or sometimes you can find them called dough trenches. Whatever you prefer. And I am loving them.

I noticed my mother-in-law had a few awhile back, but I didn't think anything of them. However, they keep popping up and I am itching for a few.

It seems like I see them everywhere- antique stores, whole-in-the-wall-places, even Pottery Barn had a few. The ones I've found are so stinking expensive- c'mon now, I am needing a good price on them. Just love how rustic they are!

You think this guy could help me carve a few?? I am just saying...he might be able to help me...

I am linking up over at Debbie's.. right here.

Awkward and Awesome Thursday..

Hooray for Thursday! That just means a day closer to the weekend. I thought I'd kick my heels up and celebrate early with a few awkward awesome moments from the week..

Awkward:
  - You are walking down the hall. You approach another person walking down same hall. You go left. He goes left. You step right. He steps right. You do that awkward- shuffle- face-to-face- stutter step. For an extended period of time. Like, it seemed for-evuh... eek.

-Meeting a friendly new face, for the first time. (Hooray!) You chit-chat and they ask you what you do. You stutter and tell them speech therapist. They give you a skeptical look.. way to go, Linds..

- Local commercials. You know, the ones shot and produced in your hometown. Bad lighting, camera angles, the works. What is their purpose?? I am watching a GI medical doctor group commercial now, complete with a jingle about your colon. I am mildly weirded out..

Awesome:
- the mystical, creative genius known as Jimmy Fallon. I can't say enough about how much I love his show. His style, the impressions, his silliness, and the Roots as the house band. 'Nuff said.

  - Gardetto's Rye Garlic Crisps. You might know them as the brown bread circles in a bag of Chex Mix. They FINALLY make a bag of just the brown bread circles. Blisssss..

- A precious kiddo, smiling up at me, and asking "If I would be his girlfriend?".  I told him "no way- Miss Lindsey is 100 years old". I think he believed me.

-The hubster telling me we have only 4 more months of paying for school. My eyes still well up at the anticipation of that relief.

OK-I need to run.. Jimmy is on, and my Gardetto's are calling my name..
