Vrrrom Vroom..

  Random Trivia Day:
Do you know what always makes me smile? EACH and every time I see one?

   Ding.. Ding! A Sweet Limousine..

Did you ever play those little paper games growing up? You know, the ones where you wrote out what you wanted to drive, where you wanted to live, how many kids you would have? I ALWAYS wrote down a limo as one of my choices. A white one. One with 80's style lights, a  hot tub, and an endless supply of Diet Coke. I'm not sure why- something about it seemed totally awesome to my 5th grade self. I have a good chuckle now at the thought of driving a limo to work everyday, hauling my speech materials in the trunk.

On my way home today, I saw a white stretch limo.. and giggled like a 5th grader.

Winter Wonderland...

Winter Wonderland
Winter Wonderland by 662 Eaton featuring glass shades

Hip Hip Hooray! Another snow day tomorrow! Now what on Earth shall I do on my unexpected day off??? Hmm...

As for tonight, tooling around, knocking down my TiVo percentage, and playin'  is right up my ally. I found a nifty little website from a magazine that lets you throw stuff together. Jazzy, isn't it? And if I had unlimited funds right this very second to spend on my snow day---sigh... all those goodies would be going home with me.

Awkward and Awesome Thursdays...err, Friday

Happy Fwiday (speech slang for TGIF)! Here's to a semi-sane week! Recently, a pal sent me a link of a lovely, little blog. Indeed, quite lovely. After stalking her blog leisurely reading a few posts, I have stumbled upon a re-occurring theme-- "Awkward and Awesome Thursdays". Yeah, you get the idea. Head scratchin' thoughts to ponder on all things weird and wonderful.

What a hoot! After laughing at a few, I am pleasantly reminded of how "fearfully and wonderfully made" we all are. Forget about what others think of you! This month, I am gonna relish in my awkwardness-- and wince painfully at yours, too!

Awkward: -wearing tights to work. Point of clarification- wearing ripped tights all day, after an "overaggressive" therapy session, at 8:00 in the morning.
                       - having a kiddo (much later in the day) tell you "your rip looks like the letter /F/"...... uhh thanks??
                       - Unknown caller: "May I speak to Lindsey, please?"
You: "It is she"( or is it: "I am her", "Here I am", "It is me".. so weird)
                      - Driving home( still with tights on), catching the car next to you fervently picking their nose. They notice too. Awkward eye exchange. (Do you smile/ nod/ look away/ pretend you were looking at something else?)

Awesome: -my current obsession with Krylon Satin Almond spray paint
                      - Ann Taylor Loft's jewelry line...but it might be awkward that I like it. I am turning into a Maw Maw.
-a PK kid FINALLY understanding the difference between over and under..whew..
-my manly husband needing Vitamin C Gummi Bears.

Trying Not to Find Pants???

Hi everyone- Hope you all had a Merry Christmas! I am kind of relieved that Christmas is winding down. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy the holidays, but now begins one of my favorite parts of the year- SPENDING THOSE GIFT CARDS/ SCORING HOLIDAY DEALS! This time of year, one can really splurge on someone else's dime. Hooray!

What will I be purchasing with my gift cards? One particular item, that I must confess, I need to vent about. Yes, just for a moment. Some deep, mind-blowing, worldly questions. Something that has been troubling me for weeks now...

What on earth are leggings? Jeggings? I see them everywhere now. Like an explosion of pantsless women. Where did they come from? Who started them?? What is the purpose of them? Yes, I know literally what they are. However, I see lovely ladies, young and old alike, sporting their pencil thin pipes-of-a-leg. Sticks, I tell you- their legs look like sticks. What can one deduce from said ladies? You, too, can have pipe-cleaner legs by wearing the no pants jegging/legging look.
Here is the Ann Taylor option.....

See what I mean?? I have hunted. Scouted. Searched. Seen the inside of nearly ALL of Memphis' fitting rooms. Tried on literally like............... 4 pair (maybe it seems like 4 million in my mind). For you jegging pros- what is it? Is it the look? Are they comfortable? I am left feeling sweaty (after wriggling out of a too small Lycra-blend contraption), fatter and defeated when I leaving the dressing room. Why? I am not sure. Afterall, I wasn't really trying much of anything on in the first place.

I leave you with this- a hilarious skit from the mildly funny Conan. I might have peed a little.  But, don't worry- I wasn't wearing pants.

nativity2

4 So Joseph also went up from the town of Nazareth in Galilee to Judea, to Bethlehem the town of David, because he belonged to the house and line of David. 5 He went there to register with Mary, who was pledged to be married to him and was expecting a child. 6 While they were there, the time came for the baby to be born, 7 and she gave birth to her firstborn, a son. She wrapped him in cloths and placed him in a manger, because there was no guest room available for them.
8 And there were shepherds living out in the fields nearby, keeping watch over their flocks at night. 9 An angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified. 10 But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid. I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people. 11 Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is the Messiah, the Lord. 12 This will be a sign to you: You will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger.”
13 Suddenly a great company of the heavenly host appeared with the angel, praising God and saying,
14 “Glory to God in the highest heaven,
and on earth peace to those on whom his favor rests.”

Wishing your you & your family a Merry Christmas and God's abundant blessings on you in the New Year!!

                                                           -Lindsey
