Everything Is Coming Up Roses..

Isn't that how the saying goes?

I've noticed a trend.
Roses.

Perhaps it's a trend. Or perhaps it's just my eye leaning towards "all things floral" since I've been RELIGIOUSLY watering our plants.

Here are a few things that make my heart go "pitter-patter"..
DIY Fabric Rosettes- Love the casualness.

Studded Rose Earrings

Long Floral Maxi Dress..but not a savvy price..

Mmm, one of my absolute necessities- I've used it for years. This is Rosebud Salve. It's a great lil' product for everything- chapped lips, burns, dry skin patches, bug bites. Grab one up at Sephora (or maybe Ulta?) for ~ $5, and it will last you forever!

A purely self indulgent item.
Something a bit cute-sy to spice up my message board at school.
Can you rationalize $15 push pins?
Good, me neither.

Emerson Made

I am a habitual gawker. Guilty as charged.
Are you?
People-watching, window shopping, or pouring over beautiful photography- love it all.

So with that said, I'd love to share with you something that encompasses all 3.

It's a beautiful website, clothing store, and look book, of sorts. Simply beautiful. Lovely photography and drool worthy clothes. And those hand-made flowers..sigh. Grab a Diet Coke and head on over to their site. You will be glad you did.

The Time Has Come to Tell You..

Welp.
I think it's finally time to share..
I think I'm getting a baby.

No, not that kind of baby (well, at least not yet..).
This kinda baby..

 Neener, Neener, fooled you!
BUT if you've been wondering about the tire tube around my middle, it IS the result of my newly acquired, convenient A.M. donut run. I mean, who doesn't love a vanilla with sprinkles in the morning?

I digress.

So obviously, I've been checking out sewing machines. They've been on my mind for a few weeks, now. My "ideas and schemes" list has grown so much, and many of the projects involve a sewing machine.

Mom offered to give me hers:

Ummm.
That's ok.
Thanks, though.

So here is my problem.
I don't have the FOGGIEST on how to operate a sewing machine. Like, not a clue.

Always the optimist, here is what I CAN do:
1- Sew a button.
2- Thread a needle.
3- Use a ruler.
4- Cut in a semi-straight line.
5- Hot glue like a champ.

Each time I've popped into my Wal-mart, I've made a lap down the sewing machine aisle. Stitch numbers, bobbins, and plates?
HELP!
I am looking to buy a basic machine. Doesn't have to be all fancy, doesn't have to be a $100, even. I mean what if I don't like sewing as much as I think I will??

Check this bad boy out.

Please don't laugh- this is the one I am actually thinking about ONLY because it come with an instructional video. And removable covers.

And what about preferences on

VS.

Gah- so many choices! Sewing-sensory overload!

Sewing machiners-  what did you start with? Here's your chance to help a sister.
Ready.
Go.

Beach Bum

Beach Bum

'Bout that time of the year again. You're needing a vaycay too, huh?...I saw the sunshine peeking out today and almost did a little dance. Yup, right there in the Sp. Ed. room... Hold my hands and chant with me.."10 more days of school, 10 more days of school"...

Fancy-Schmancy..

It's about that time of year again.. Easter dress shopping.
While I know beyond a shadow of a doubt that Easter is NOT about fashion, it is still fun to get dressy. With all the bells and whistles. For HIM.
In his great power God becomes like clothing to me ; he binds me like the neck of my garment.
Job 30:17-19

My mother always took great care in making sure that Drewsie-Cakes and I looked "so fly". Clearly, you can see the evidence.

But for Easter, the piece de resistance- a sweet, matching smocked outfit or a lovely, little corduroy jumper creation from Chocolate Soup in Germantown, was in order. I always felt just a tad more special with it on.
Man, I loved me some Chocolate Soup.

I digress.

Soo, I have been on the hunt for a new dress. Brenon thinks everyone "needs to look like a fresh bouquet of spring flowers".
I politely disagree.
Here are a few of my faves:

                                 Banana Republic

New Wreaf

My front door needs a sprucing up. Spring is tip-toe-ing close and I am on the hunt for a new door wreaf (as my speech kiddos would say).
Why are wreaths so hard to pick out? Is it because there are so many hideous, butt-ugly choices to choose from? Like, take a look at this bad boy---------->

<-------------Or what about this one? It's like a floral dept. threw up. I personally feel if God didn't make that flower THAT color- you might wanna reconsider your choice.

Here are a few, however, that I AM daydreaming about (feel free to lazily close your eyes and listen to Styx music, too):

                                                Classic Boxwood

Maybe in another color??

                                                  Fun Leather Wreath

Feeling spicy? Here's a chili pepper wreath

Here's a fun little project, if you have the time. It's a book page wreath- great for using up old books. You can find the link for this dude----->right ova' here.

Dough Bowls..

Have you seen some of these bad boys before?
                        No?
They're my latest crush. In fact, I have had my eye on them for awhile now. They're dough bowls. Or sometimes you can find them called dough trenches. Whatever you prefer. And I am loving them.

I noticed my mother-in-law had a few awhile back, but I didn't think anything of them. However, they keep popping up and I am itching for a few.

It seems like I see them everywhere- antique stores, whole-in-the-wall-places, even Pottery Barn had a few. The ones I've found are so stinking expensive- c'mon now, I am needing a good price on them. Just love how rustic they are!

You think this guy could help me carve a few?? I am just saying...he might be able to help me...

I am linking up over at Debbie's.. right here.

Winter Wonderland...

Winter Wonderland
Winter Wonderland by 662 Eaton featuring glass shades

Hip Hip Hooray! Another snow day tomorrow! Now what on Earth shall I do on my unexpected day off??? Hmm...

As for tonight, tooling around, knocking down my TiVo percentage, and playin'  is right up my ally. I found a nifty little website from a magazine that lets you throw stuff together. Jazzy, isn't it? And if I had unlimited funds right this very second to spend on my snow day---sigh... all those goodies would be going home with me.
